ADRIAN, Mich. – The Kenyon College men's lacrosse team wasted no time proving it could win on the road in 2026, storming into Docking Stadium on Saturday afternoon and overwhelming Adrian College, 15-8, in a nonconference matchup.
In just their second game of the season and first road test, the Owls set the tone early and never allowed the Bulldogs to recover, building a double-digit lead before halftime and controlling the pace throughout.
Kenyon's offense clicked almost immediately. After forcing an early turnover, the Owls capitalized on an extra-man opportunity when senior
David Chintala buried a man-up goal at the 12:05 mark of the opening quarter off a feed from
Tanner Lewis. That tally ignited a dominant first quarter in which Kenyon found the net five times.
Gavin Gumucio followed with back-to-back goals, the second coming off an assist from
Alex Haag, pushing the lead to 3-0. Gumucio completed a first-quarter hat trick with another unassisted finish at 6:38.
Tanner Lewis then added a goal off a pass from
Mike Kapral, giving the Owls a commanding 5-0 advantage after 15 minutes.
The second quarter only widened the gap, Lewis struck again at 13:46, finishing off a setup from Haag. Just 28 seconds later,
Cole Abel converted off an assist from
Miles Malawer to make it 7-0. After Adrian broke through, Kenyon responded emphatically with a flurry of four goals in under four minutes. Chintala scored at 7:39 to restore momentum before Gumucio added another. Chintala found the net again off a Lewis assist, and Kapral followed with a goal from Malawer. Haag capped the surge, finishing a pass from Lewis to stretch the lead to 12-1. Adrian managed a late extra-man goal, but Kenyon carried a commanding 12-2 lead into halftime.
The Bulldogs attempted to chip away in the third quarter, scoring twice in the opening three minutes. But Haag halted the push, finishing a feed from Chintala to make it 13-4. After Adrian added another late in the period, Gumucio responded once more, scooping up a ground ball and converting to send Kenyon into the fourth quarter ahead 14-5.
Kapral opened the final frame just 51 seconds in, finishing a pass from Lewis to push the lead to 15-5 and effectively seal the outcome. Adrian scored three times over the final nine minutes, but the damage had long been done.
Kenyon's offense was balanced and relentless. Gumucio led the charge with five goals, tying his career-high for a third time while Chintala tallied three goals and an assist. Lewis finished with two goals and four assists, contributing to six total points. Haag added two goals and four assists while Kapral recorded two goals and one assist. Abel closed out Kenyon's scoring efforts with one tally while Malawar pitched in with a pair of assists. On defense, five different Owls secured one turnover.
As a team, 31 total ground balls were secured with
Will Jordan leading the pack with ten.
In goal,
Adam Hall anchored the defense with a series of timely saves, notching 15 saves off of 31 shot attempts, bringing his save total on the season to 31.
Up next, the Owls will face in-state foe Baldwin Wallace University in a midweek matchup on Wednesday, Feb. 18. First faceoff is set for 7 p.m.
