COLUMBUS, Ohio – Kenyon College men's basketball Hall of Fame inductee Scott Rogers '80 has been selected for induction into the Ohio Basketball Hall of Fame as a member of the class of 2026. He is one of 14 individuals and three teams recognized for their indelible contributions to Ohio basketball history.
Rogers is recognized as one of the most prolific scorers in Kenyon basketball history and his name is etched throughout the program's record books. A one-of-a-kind offensive performer, he amassed 2,149 career points, finishing as the third-leading scorer in Kenyon men's basketball history, while averaging 23.6 points per game for his career. His dominance peaked during the 1978-79 season, when he led the nation in scoring at 28.6 points per game.
A gem among the nation's elite, Rogers earned First Team All-American honors twice (1979, 1980) and was a three-time First Team All-Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) selection from 1978–80. He captured three straight OAC scoring titles, was twice named the OAC Most Valuable Player and received an invitation to the 1980 U.S. Olympic Team tryouts before being drafted by the NBA's Indiana Pacers.
Beginning in 2001, Rogers coached the girls basketball team at Mount Notre Dame High School, near Cincinnati. There he compiled a 429-74 record and his teams captured five Ohio Division I state titles. He was the 2017 USA Today Ohio Coach of the Year, an eight-time Greater Cincinnati Coach of the Year, twice earned Ohio AP Coach of the Year recognition, and in 2020 was a finalist for the Women's Basketball Naismith National Coach of the Year.
The Ohio Basketball Hall of Fame Enshrinement Ceremony will take place on Saturday, June 6 at the Hilton Polaris in Columbus.
