Match Recap: Women's Tennis |

Owls run the table in Saturday doubleheader

GAMBIER, Ohio – The No. 17-ranked Kenyon College women's tennis team turned its home courts into a showcase Saturday, dispatching both Wittenberg University and DePauw University in a doubleheader at the Jasper Tennis Center. The Owls opened the day with a swift 5-nil victory over Wittenberg before returning in the afternoon to blank DePauw, 7-0.

The pair of wins pushed Kenyon's record to 14-5 on the season and extend their undefeated streak in conference play to 6-0.

At the top doubles spot, Kiara Komlodi and Sophia Carling needed little time to get rolling, cruising to a 6-0 win over Marin Summers and Celeste Hartings. The Owls locked down the doubles point moments later as Elizabeth Ackermann and Maya Stolarsky handled Myla Stanley and Elisabeth Josellis with a 6-1 decision.

Singles play followed the same script, with Ackermann leading the charge at No. 1 singles, rolling past Summers 6-1, 6-0. Stolarsky contributed with a flawless showing in the No. 2 slot, blanking Hartings 6-0, 6-0. Carling continued the Owls' momentum with a 6-2, 6-0 win in the third flight, and Madeline Chappars closed the match at No. 4 singles with a commanding 6-0, 6-0 victory over Stanley to secure the 5-0 result.

After a brief reset, the Owls returned to the courts for the afternoon contest against DePauw and delivered yet another clinical performance.

KC again controlled doubles play from start to finish. Clare Hudson and Hana Nouaime were first off the court with a 6-0 win at the No. 3 position against Katie King and Ayden Zinkovich. The top-flight duo of Komlodi and Eleni Lazaridou added a 6-2 victory over Valerie Doherty and Briah O'Neal, while Shadia Amado Aguad and Shope completed the sweep with a 6-3 win in the second flight.

Singles action saw the Owls widen the gap even further with Komlodi wasting no time at the No. 1 position, defeating King 6-2, 6-0. At No. 2 singles, Ackermann showed resilience after dropping the opening set, storming back to defeat Elle Loch 5-7, 6-0, 6-0.

Kenyon kept stacking wins as Stolarsky edged Valerie Doherty 7-5, 6-2 in the third flight. Shope followed with a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 4 singles, while Sophia Carling cruised past Allie Stamm 6-2, 6-0 in the fifth position. Chappars wrapped up the afternoon with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Abby Short at No. 6 to complete the sweep.

Up next for the Owls is their final conference matchup of the regular season as they welcome the College of Wooster to Gambier on Thursday, April 16. First serve is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.
