Kenyon drubs DePauw in the rain

GAMBIER, Ohio – With three games left in the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) schedule, the Kenyon College women's lacrosse team will host two straight home games from the Field at Benson Bowl, the first on Saturday afternoon against DePauw University.

Battling through some heavy rainfall for most of the game, the Owls were able to control play from the opening draw, coming away with a 19-7 victory to improve to 3-2 in the NCAC.

DePauw got on the board first to start the contest at 12:56 in the opening quarter, but from then on Kenyon poured on a 9-1 run for the rest of the first to add up to the team's best offensive stretch of the day. Ashley Quinn and Ella Rigoli each found the net twice in the quarter, while Ashley Auerbach, Charlotte Skelly, Lily Mason, Spencer Kirsch and Delaney Champeau all scored tallies of their own to take a 9-2 Owls lead after 15 minutes.

Kenyon added five more goals in the second quarter to really stretch its advantage, as Skelly, Kirsch, Mason and Champeau all went back for seconds and Ella Baxter joined the party to take a 14-3 lead to the half.

The third quarter was dominated by Susannah Zimmerman, who provided all three of the Owls' goals. She struck first at 13:03, and came back at 8:54 and 2:35 to complete the hat trick in just under 13 minutes. The Tigers scored twice in the frame, setting the score 17-5 with only the fourth to play.

Skelly scored at 7:53 and Rigoli at 2:03 in the fourth to put the finishing touches on the much needed conference win. Quinn assisted on Rigoli's final goal to eclipse 100 career points for the senior.

As a team, the Owls outshot DePauw 38-to-18 (32-to-10 on goal) and held a 23-10 advantage on the ground. Zimmerman and Skelly finished atop the team with five points apiece, while Quinn had four and five other players had two or more. Meagan Lacombe had three saves in set, while Persia Shipman made one in relief.

With the win, Kenyon sits fourth in the conference standings with two games to play. The Owls' final home game of the 2026 regular season will be on Tuesday, April 21 at 5:00 p.m. against Oberlin College.
