Mason earns her first NCAC weekly award

CLEVELAND -- The Kenyon College women's lacrosse team picked up two crucial conference wins last week and senior Lily Mason played a big part in both of them. Tuesday, the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) announced that Mason's performances in those games resulted in her selection as the NCAC Athlete of the Week.

On Wednesday, the Owls defeated John Carroll University, 14-13, on the road. Then, on Saturday, the Owls played a home game against DePauw University and handed the Tigers a resounding 19-7 defeat.

Against John Carroll, Mason, a midfielder, scored four goals on four shots. She also posted team-highs of eight draw controls and six ground balls, to go along with three caused turnovers. Against DePauw, Mason tallied two more goals, three draw controls, and one more ground ball.

The NCAC weekly award was the first for Mason, who is a two-time All-NCAC honoree and was voted the NCAC Newcomer of the Year in 2023.

After the two wins, Kenyon evened its overall record to 7-7 and moved into third place in the conference standings with a 3-2 mark. The Owls look to keep the wins coming today, when they host the Oberlin College Yeowomen at 5 p.m.
