Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Hall breaks record, Owls are NCAC co-champs in loss

WOOSTER, Ohio – The Kenyon College men's lacrosse team rounded out the 2026 regular season on Saturday afternoon, taking on The College of Wooster on the road as each team was vying for critical position in the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) playoffs.

Despite winning the ground battle and outshooting the Scots by nearly 20, the Owls ran into a hot goaltender and couldn't get anything going on offense, falling 13-6 in the end.

A highlight for Kenyon came when Adam Hall set the program record for career saves, a mark which has stood since James Peace recorded 772 from 1968-71. Heading into the game, Hall had 770, and at 12:13 in the second he stopped his third shot of seven for the day to earn the record.

After Wooster broke through at 13:25 to start the game, Gavin Gumucio got the Owls on the board at 11:44 in the first. Two more Scots goals found the net before David Chintala got his first score of the game at 1:29 as Kenyon trailed 2-3 after 15 minutes.

Owen Breen scored the lone goal for the Owls in the second quarter with an assist from Luke Riney at 3:48 as Kenyon trailed 3-4 at the break. In each of the first two quarters, Wooster keeper Case Lowery made five saves, which kept Kenyon's combined 23 shots out of the net.

The Scots started to pull away in the third, despite two out of three goals coming from the Owls to open the quarter. Mike Kapral and Henry Powell each scored after Wooster netted a goal to start the period to tie things up at five at 11:19. However, the Scots would go on to score five straight goals to end the third and open the fourth, taking a 10-5 lead at 10:57 in the final frame.

Chintala scored at 10:22 in the fourth to stop the run, but that would be the Owls last goal of the game, as Wooster scored three more times to set the 6-13 final. Lowery was red hot in the second half as well for the Scots, eventually tallying 17 saves, a new career high.

For the game, Kenyon outshot Wooster 51-to-32 and 23-to-20 on goal, while holding a 43-31 edge in ground balls. Will Jordan led the Owls with 15 ground balls and went 19-of-22 from the faceoff dot, while Riney caused three turnovers, a career high for the senior.

Despite the loss, Kenyon's 6-2 finish in conference play was good enough for a five-way tie for the 2026 NCAC Championship. The title is the third in program history, happening first in 2000 and again in 2023. However, due to a tie-breaking point system, the Owls did not earn a spot in the conference's four-team postseason tournament.
