CLEVELAND – Kenyon College senior Anna Brown was named the Women's Track Athlete of the Week by the North Coast Athletic Conference, as announced by the conference offices Tuesday afternoon. The honor marks the 11th Athlete of the Week award of Brown's career.
Brown delivered the Owls' top performance at the Wooster Invitational, capturing first place in the 1,500-meter race with a time of 4:38.23. Her mark set a new stadium record, surpassing the previous standard of 4:39.65 established last season by Alyssa Vis of John Carroll University.
The senior's winning time also came within striking distance of two additional milestones. Brown finished just over a second shy of her personal best of 4:37.22 and narrowly missed the Kenyon program record of 4:37.01, set by Kelley Wilder during the 1993 season.
Behind Brown's victory and multiple strong sprint performances, the Owls totaled 34 points and placed ninth in a 13-team field at the The College of Wooster Invitational.
Brown and the squad returns to action April 10-11 when it travels to Delaware, Ohio, for the All-Ohio Championship hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University.
