Brown breaks record, brings in conference honor

CLEVELAND – Senior Anna Brown opened up the Kenyon College women's track and field outdoor season with a bang on Saturday, winning two events in record breaking fashion at the Emory Classic in Atlanta, Georgia. The stellar performance led to the tenth North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Athlete of the Week award of her career and the first of the season.

Brown's big weekend started with a photo finish on Friday, where she won the 1,500 meter race at 4:37.22, claiming the title by 0.01 seconds to best the 97 runner field. The time was a career best for Brown and came in just 0.21 seconds shy of Kelly Wilder's 33-year-old Kenyon record in the event.

In the 800 meter race on Saturday, Brown beat 78 other runners with a 2:11.72 time, a score which shattered her own program record of 2:14.43 set back on May 10, 2024.

Up next, the Owls will compete much closer to home as Kenyon will take the short trip to Denison University on Saturday, March 28, for the Denison Lid-Lifter.
