Oakes repeats as Player of the Year, five Owls earn All-NCAC honors

CLEVELAND – Five members of the Kenyon College men's golf team earned spots on the 2026 All-North Coast Athletic Conference Team, while junior Jonathan Oakes headlined the Owls' honorees by claiming the Dick Gordin Award, presented annually to the league's Player of the Year.

Oakes earned the conference's top individual honor for the second straight season and landed on the All-NCAC First Team. He was joined on the First Team by sophomore Connor Gray, while junior Jaiden Koonar and sophomore Adrian Jordan secured Second Team spots. Junior Rafael Frias IV rounded out Kenyon's honorees with Third Team recognition.

Oakes is now a three-time All-NCAC selection after earning Third Team honors in 2024 and back-to-back First Team certificates in 2025 and 2026. The junior also became Kenyon's sixth overall Player of the Year honoree and repeated as the Dick Gordin Award winner after another strong season at the top of the Owls' lineup. Oakes recorded three top-10 finishes this season, highlighted by a third-place showing at the 2026 NCAC Championship, where he carded a 221 total. He opened the tournament with a 77, followed with a 76 in round two, and closed with a championship-low 68 in the final round. Oakes is currently the highest-ranked golfer in the NCAC, sitting No. 6 in Region V and No. 38 nationally in NCAA Division III, while owning a 71.6 scoring average.

Gray broke through with a First Team selection after an impressive sophomore campaign. He played 27 rounds and finished with 1,983 total strokes. Gray posted a 73.44 scoring average, tied for the team's low round of 66, and led Kenyon with 10 rounds at par or better. He also collected one top-five finish and two top-10 placements, giving the Owls another steady presence at the front of the lineup.

Koonar added another all-conference honor to his decorated Kenyon career, earning a Second Team spot after First Team selections in each of the previous two seasons. The junior played 24 rounds, totaled 1,781 strokes, and finished with a 74.21 scoring average. Koonar carded a team-best low round of 64, produced six rounds at par or better, and added one top-five finish and two top-10 placements. Across 82 career rounds, Koonar owns a 73.77 scoring average.

Jordan joined Koonar on the Second Team, earning all-conference honors for the second straight season after collecting a Second Team nod in 2025. The sophomore played 27 rounds, totaled 2,008 strokes, and recorded a 74.37 scoring average. Jordan matched Oakes with nine rounds at par or better, fired a low round of 67, and added one top-10 finish.

Frias picked up Third Team honors for the second consecutive season, rounding out Kenyon's five-player All-NCAC group. The junior competed in 21 rounds and finished with 1,575 strokes and a 75.00 scoring average. Frias' best round of the season was a 69, and he added four rounds at par or better while providing the Owls with depth throughout the year.
