Owls land program-high six on All-NCAC Team

CLEVELAND -- In validation of just how good the Kenyon College offense was this past season, six members of the Owls roster were awarded positions on the 2026 All-North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Softball Team. The announcement was made Wednesday by the conference office and the Owls total of six honorees tied a program high.

Claiming positions on the All-NCAC First Team were junior Keala Montgomery and sophomore Leah Kuban. Second Team positions were awarded to senior Maeve McLaughlin, junior Brooke Avila, and sophomore Kinsey White. First-year Leah Schlissberg rounded out Kenyon's representative with a spot on the Third Team.

The All-NCAC honorees were selected based on statistics from conference games only. Kenyon, which had a 19-23 overall record and placed fourth in the conference with a 7-7 mark, had 138 hits, as a team, in conference contests. That mark led the conference and the Owls' .344 batting average and 91 runs scored were both second-best totals within the conference.

Montgomery, who batted leadoff and played first base, led the Kenyon charge, hitting .491 (27-of-55) in NCAC games. She smashed four home runs, scored 15 times, and rang up 14 RBI. Fellow First-Teamer, Kuban, who filled the designated player/utility role, hit .419 and led the NCAC with seven home runs and ranked second in the conference with 19 RBI.

In counting all 2026 games, not just conference games, Montgomery set the Kenyon program records with 68 hits and 112 total bases. Kuban added program records for home runs (13), RBI (50), and slugging percentage (.752). Her 50 RBI also tied the NCAC single-season record.

McLaughlin, Kenyon's only senior on the all-conference team, played left field and hit .340 in conference contests, which was not indicative of her compete season, as she hit .404 in 42 games played and, at one point, hit safely in 17 straight games, the second longest hit streak in program history.

Avila, the team's center fielder, and White, who played third and shortstop, hit .356 and .359, respectively, in NCAC games. Avila scored 11 runs and had five RBI, while White scored seven times and produced seven RBI. Both played great defense, as well. In 70 chances, Avila made 64 putouts, five assists, and just one error. Meanwhile, White set program records for assists in a game (9) and in a season (112).

Schlissberg played right field and hit the No. 2 hole in the Kenyon lineup. She generated a  .333 batting average in conference games and .341 overall. She led the team in sacrifices and was a perfect 14-for-14 in stolen base attempts.

Overall, the Kenyon offense set multiple team records throughout the season, including, but not limited to hits (412), runs (277), doubles (79), batting average (.344), slugging percentage (.495), RBI (244), and total bases (592).
