STEUBENVILLE, Ohio – The Kenyon College women's soccer team opened its 2026 campaign with a 0-0 draw against Franciscan University on Saturday afternoon at Trinity Health System Field.
The Owls controlled much of the match offensively, finishing with a 12-2 advantage in shots and an 8-2 edge in corner kicks. Kenyon also put six shots on frame, but Franciscan goalkeeper Callie Giguere turned aside all six attempts.
Kenyon generated several quality chances during the opening 45 minutes.
Emily Copeland recorded three shots, including one that was saved and another that was blocked.
Maia Pasco also forced a save in the 38th minute, while
Fiona Dougherty and
Addilyn Tober each registered shots during the first half.
The Owls continued to apply pressure following halftime.
Mia Voutsinas tested Giguere less than two minutes into the second half, while
Zoe Lipp followed with another shot on goal in the 56th minute. Pasco added another attempt in the 67th minute, and
Holly Byun forced another save in the 81st minute.
Kenyon's defense also turned in a strong opening-day performance, limiting Franciscan to just two shots throughout the 90 minutes.
Ariel Kite started in goal for the first half before
Lila Michael took over after halftime, with the duo combining for the shutout.
The Owls' offensive pressure was particularly evident in the first half, when Kenyon recorded eight shots and six corner kicks. Kenyon continued to push forward in the second half but was unable to break through for the game's opening goal.
The result gives Kenyon a 0-0-1 record to begin the season. Kenyon will play its home opener Wednesday, September 9, against Bethany College at 4:30 p.m. at Mavec Field.
