DELAWARE, Ohio (October 29, 2011) Sophomore
Alex Bair and freshman
Julie Freedman each scored a goal Saturday and the Ladies ended a three-game losing streak with a 2-0 blanking of the Ohio Wesleyan University Battling Bishops. The win finalized the Ladies' overall season record at 7-11 and their North Coast Athletic Conference mark at 7-7.
Both Kenyon goals found the Ohio Wesleyan cage in the first half of play. Bair's goal, which held up as the game-winner, was scored about 17 minutes into the contest. She dashed through the middle of the circle and avoided defenders with a back-handed shot. The goal was Bair's sixth and tied her with freshman
Rachel Hall for the team lead this season. Three of those six goals for Bair were game-winners.
Roughly eight minutes after that initial goal, Freedman mailed in the insurance policy for the Ladies. Sophomore
Annie Hulkower feed Freedman the pass and she steered it home from close range. The goal was Freedman's fourth of the season and the assist was Hulkower's second.
Although goalkeeper
Alex Britt and the Ladies defense posted their fourth shutout of the season, it didn't come easy. The Ladies were outshot by the Bishops, 12-8, and Britt had to make eight saves, four in each half.
