WOOSTER, Ohio – Dan Shannon's 13-yard touchdown pass to Greg McIntosh with just ten seconds left in Saturday's football game gave the Kenyon College Lords a 21-17 victory over the host College of Wooster Fighting Scots. It also moved the Lords a step closer to clinching at least a share of the North Coast Athletic Conference title.

Kenyon is now 6-3 overall and 5-1 in the NCAC. The six wins are the best single-season mark for Kenyon since the 2005 team registered a 6-4 record. The six wins also match the combined win total of the Lords' previous five seasons.

Kenyon will finish off the regular season next week at home against rival Denison University (3-6, 3-3 NCAC). A win over the Big Red will secure at least a share of the NCAC title, something the program has not accomplished since the 1989 season. Currently, both Ohio Wesleyan University and Wittenberg University are tied with Kenyon atop the conference standings. Ohio Wesleyan hosts Wooster next week and Wittenberg travels to Oberlin College.

In setting up their title shot, the Lords first had to get by Wooster, which they did with a last-minute drive. Trailing 17-14 with 4:57 left in the game, Kenyon began its march to victory from its own 12-yard line. Shannon started things out by completing short passes to Brett Williams,  Nick Gasbarro,  and Carlo Gagliardo.  He then kept the ball himself to run for a first down during a third-and-one situation at the Lords' 37-yard line. Later, he completed a couple more passes to Gasbarro and Gagliardo to successfully convert third-and-long situations.

The well-planned drive, which spanned 18 plays and 88 yards, came to crucial point at the Wooster 13-yard line. Facing a third-and-seven, the Lords opted to go for the win, instead of playing for what could have been the game-tying field goal. The gutsy moved paid off when Shannon connected with McIntosh for the final time.

McIntosh finished the game with eight catches, 62 yards, and two touchdowns. His other score came in the second quarter and tied the game up 7-7. Meanwhile, Shannon posted season-high numbers of 25 completions on 37 pass attempts for 239 yards. Although McIntosh was the recipient of the two most important passes, Gagliardo led all receivers with ten catches for 95 yards.

Shannon also did some damage on the ground. The senior quarterback rushed for 56 yards on ten carries. Five of those yards came on a touchdown run in the third quarter with Kenyon trailing 17-7. Williams added 80 rushing yards to the Lords' total and now has 975 yards for the season.

The defensive numbers were equally impressive for the Lords, as they allowed Wooster just 115 yards on the ground and 121 yards in the air. The Scots, who converted just three of 13 third-down situations, were the third straight team held to under 20 points by the Lords.

For the second week in a row, Zachary Morrow led the team in tackles. He had 11 take-downs against the Scots. Reed Franklin had ten tackles and Kolin Sullivan had seven.
