GAMBIER, Ohio (April 28, 2012) Kenyon College junior Mackie Avis scored four times Saturday and the Lords lacrosse team was more than efficient in extra-man situations while rolling to an 11-5 North Coast Athletic Conference victory over the College of Wooster in what was the regular-season finale for both teams.

Kenyon got off to a rather sluggish start and found itself trailing 2-1 at the end of the first quarter. About mid-way through the second quarter, Avis put in the wake-up call for the rest of his team. He scored twice within 76 seconds and handed the Lords a 3-2 lead. Will Lowe added one more Kenyon score and the Lords went into the break with a 4-3 advantage.

In the third quarter, Kenyon really poured it on. The Lords outscored Wooster 5-0 in the frame and Avis was responsible for two of those five goals. Lowe also scored another one and tacked on an assist, as well. That blew the game wide open and Kenyon marched toward the final quarter with a much more comfortable 9-3 lead.

With his four-goal output, Avis moved within striking distance of the team lead. He now has 23 this season and trails only senior Geoff Akie, who scored twice against Wooster and has 25 goals on the year. Lowe, who ended up with three goals and two assists Saturday, leads the team with updated season totals of 30 assists and 48 points. His 30 assists are the program's best single-season tally since Devin Catlin registered 34 in 2009.

Wooster (6-9, 1-4 NCAC) found itself a man-down on four separate occasions and the Lords made them pay for it three times. Avis had one man-up goal for Kenyon, while two of Lowe's three goals came with the extra man.

Kenyon (10-4, 4-1 NCAC) now has its best regular-season record since the 2008 squad produced the same 10-4 overall mark. With the regular season in the books, Kenyon can only wait out the NCAA selection committee to decide the Lords' postseason fate. The committee will announce its selections for the 2012 NCAA Division III Tournament on Sunday, May 6, at 10 p.m.
