OBERLIN, Ohio (April 25, 2012) Sophomore
Will Lowe poured in seven points and led 13 Lords who put at least one point in the scorebook Wednesday night at Oberlin College. The diverse attack carried the Kenyon College men's lacrosse team to a 13-3 triumph over the Yeomen in a North Coast Athletic Conference clash.
Lowe piled up two goals and five assists in the rout. Four of his points came in the first half as the Lords built a 6-1 halftime lead. Lowe also had a hand in three of Kenyon's four scores in the third quarter.
Lowe sat out most of the fourth quarter, but the offense kept humming along without him. The Lords (9-4, 3-1 NCAC) opened the period with three more goals to build a whopping 13-1 advantage. The stout Kenyon defense kept Oberlin off the board in the second half until the Yeomen (5-9, 0-5 NCAC) scored twice in the closing two minutes.
Senior Geoff Akie produced three goals for the Lords. Freshman Patrick Kim finished with a pair of scores and sophomore Ben Hayden contributed a goal and an assist. The eight other Kenyon players that scored tallied one point each.
At the other end, the Lords' defense kept the heat off of sophomore goalie Fletcher Franklin, who only faced 13 shots in three quarters of work in the cage. Franklin made three saves to earn his seventh victory of the season.
Kenyon hosts the College of Wooster Saturday at 1 p.m. in its regular-season finale. A victory over the Fighting Scots would give the Lords their first 10-win season since 2008 and their best NCAC record since the 2000 team went 4-1 in conference play.
