GAMBIER, Ohio -- The Kenyon College field hockey team put together a balanced offensive attack Sunday afternoon and registered a 3-0 victory over the Ohio Wesleyan University Battling Bishops. It was the Ladies' third straight win, as well as their third straight win in North Coast Athletic Conference action.

Kenyon (3-2, 3-0 NCAC) first scored on a play that developed off a penalty corner. Sophomore Rachel Hall inbounded the ball to classmate Julie Freedman. Freedman then flipped the ball to her left, where it was met by senior Leah Jacques. Jacques then ripped a shot past Ohio Wesleyan goalkeeper Karson Stevenson.

The score remained 1-0 until Ohio Wesleyan (1-3, 0-3 NCAC) returned the favor early in the second half of play. Again, off a penalty corner, the Bishops initial shot on goal was saved by Kenyon keeper Sydney Carney-Knisely, but the rebound came out to Sadie Slager, who buried the equalizer.

Roughly 12 minutes later, Kenyon sophomore Sammy Johnston stole a pass, moved forward, and drew a foul in the Ohio Wesleyan zone. On the re-start, freshman Maddie Breschi got one shot off that did not find its mark. Her next shot, however, went off of Stevenson's glove and over the goal line.

Johnston also figured into the next Kenyon score. Fighting for a loose ball on the right side, she gained possession and quickly released a shot that found the left side of the Bishops' cage.

The contest was the Ladies' first home game of the season. They'll return to McBride Field again Thursday to host Denison University at 4:30 pm.
