UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio – John Carroll University scored early against the Kenyon College men's soccer team Tuesday night then let its defense do the rest. A 13th-minute goal was enough for the Blue Streaks, who limited the Lords to four shots in the game, to notch a 1-0 win in the non-conference match-up.
John Carroll came out of the gates aggressively and kept most of the action on Kenyon's end of the field. The Blue Streaks capitalized on the consistent pressure when Brian Potocnik planted the fourth shot of the game into the back of the net.
Senior goalkeeper
James Smith kept the Lords in the contest with a season-high seven saves. Smith's performance helped mitigate John Carroll's 17-4 advantage in shots, but Kenyon couldn't even the score with the limited offensive opportunities.
The Lords continue their five-game road trip Saturday afternoon at DePauw University in a return to North Coast Athletic Conference play.
