DELAWARE, Ohio – It took an extra period, but the Kenyon College field hockey team got the job done Sunday at Ohio Wesleyan University. Three minutes into overtime, sophomore Maddie Breschi scored the game winner to give the Ladies a 1-0 decision against the host Battling Bishops.

Kenyon held a 17-12 advantage in shots during regulation, but neither the Ladies nor the Battling Bishops could find the back of the cage. All that changed with the first shot of overtime, which came at the 73:05 mark. Senior Alex Bair got control of the ball on the right side of the Ohio Wesleyan zone. She then fired over a pass to Breschi, who launched her shot over the left side of the goal line. The goal was Breschi's 11th of the season and the assist was Bair's fifth.

The win moved the Ladies' records to 10-5 overall and 8-3 in the North Coast Athletic Conference. They still sit in third place in the conference standings with a two-game lead over fourth-place Wooster. With three regular season games still left to play, the Ladies have surpassed both their overall win total (8) and their conference win total (7) from one season ago.

Ohio Wesleyan, swept by Kenyon in the two-game regular-season series, fell to 5-9 overall and 3-8 in the NCAC.
