GAMBIER, Ohio  – After the Kenyon Ladies softball team sustained a 7-4 loss at the hands of the Wittenberg Tigers in game one of Tuesday's doubleheader, Chelsea Delaney stole the show with a pair of no-doubt home runs to help the Ladies rebound with an 8-6 win in game two . The split guides Kenyon to a 15-6 overall record and a 3-1 ledger in North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) play.

Delaney bounced back from a 0-for-4 day at the plate in the Ladies' game-one loss to the Tigers with her best offensive performance of the season. In game two the sophomore went 2-for-3 with five RBIs to guide the offense past Wittenberg. Delaney launched both of her hits over the left field fence with a two-run homer in the first inning and a three-run shot in the fourth for her third and fourth home runs of the season. Her shot in the fourth gave Kenyon an 8-1 lead that helped lead them to victory.

Kenyon took a 3-1 lead into the fourth inning and following a leadoff double by Toni Miller the Tigers went to the bullpen to return game one starter Rachel Ross. Ross recorded two outs off the bat but Haley Howard jumpstarted a two-out rally with a run-scoring single. Reigning NCAC Player of the Week Maddy Stark continued the rally with a second straight RBI single before an error extended the inning, setting the table for Delaney's second home run.

After Jamie Samuel (2-0) recorded the first out of the fifth inning, Laura Rose helped the Tigers chip into the Ladies' lead with a two-run home run, making for an 8-3 score. Stark came on two batters later in relief for her second appearance of the day to retire the side. Wittenberg tallied three in the sixth but Stark held off the Tigers to preserve Samuel's second win of the season.

In Kenyon's 7-4 loss in game one of Tuesday's doubleheader was spurred by a late outburst of offense resulting in six runs over the final three innings. The Ladies scored three runs in the first with help from two errors from the Wittenberg middle infield but was held scoreless over the next five innings. The Tigers tagged Stark with her first loss of the season after scoring three runs in the fifth with help from five singles and three additional runs that came unearned over the final two innings.

Kenyon will return to action in nonconference play against Otterbein University on April 5. The Cardinals and Ladies kick off Friday's doubleheader at the Softball Complex at 3:30 p.m. They will return to NCAC play the following day at Ohio Wesleyan University with two games set to start at 1 p.m.
