GAMBIER, Ohio  – Home runs by Jane Ghublikian and Molly O'Connor helped the Kenyon College softball team past Houghton College in Friday's sweep of the Highlanders. Despite a late start time, Kenyon rolled out a combined 10 runs to Houghton's one and Maddy Stark ruled the circle once again in their pair of victories at the KC Softball Complex.

Stark (7-2) silenced the Highlanders' bats by retiring 21 of the 23 batters she faced, allowing just one hit and one walk to account for the only two Houghton baserunners in the game. The junior racked up a total of 13 strikeouts, including five in her first two innings of work. She also closed out the final two frames with four strikeouts, all swinging.

Not only was Stark chopping down the Highlanders' lineup, but she also jumpstarted Kenyon's run scoring that took place in the bottom of the second. Stark dropped in an RBI single down the left field line, plating Liz Paterra just prior to Danielle Elizarraraz bringing Stark around with an run-scoring double.

Molly O'Connor made a statement in the bottom of the fifth with a rocket that left the park over the left center field fence. Her second home run of the season scored three runs and bumped the Ladies' lead to 5-0, one they would ride out to victory behind Stark's domination in the circle.

Game two was called short due to darkness, but all of Kenyon's damage came in the second inning. The Ladies mounted a huge two-out rally, scoring five times before the end of the frame. Sylvie Thomas, Lindsey Susolik, and Meredith Williams all tallied run-scoring base hits before Jane Ghublikian cleared the bases with a two-run home run to left field. Ghublikian's blast was the second of her season and marked a 2-for-5 performance at the plate in her return to the lineup after missing the last eight games due to injury.

Thomas (7-2) picked up the win, allowing just two hits and one run through four innings of work. Stark came on for an inning of relief before the game was called in the in the bottom of the fifth due to darkness with the score 5-1.  Stark finished with 14 strikeouts between the two games after racking up one more in game two.

The Ladies (14-4) are set to host Marietta College on Sunday beginning at 1 p.m. in their next action.
