ALLEGHENY, Pa.  – Despite holding an early edge over Allegheny College, the Kenyon College women's lacrosse team was unable to hold the advantage in its 12-6 loss, Saturday afternoon. The Gators pieced together strong finishes to each half to pull away from the Ladies, delivering Kenyon its fourth loss of the season.

Alex Bair was the main catalyst of Kenyon's early push out of the gate, scoring two of her three goals and assisting on another, in the opening eight minutes. Her second tally gave Kenyon a 3-2 lead but the Gators output four straight goals, all from different players, to gain a 6-3 edge going into the half.

The second half began just as the first had ended, with Allegheny scoring twice more to take a five-goal lead. Kelly Dickson scored her second of the day while a man up after Margaret Armstrong was yellow carded less than one minute into the half. She was followed shortly after by Alexa Maloney's third goal.

Kenyon (8-4, 2-3 NCAC) swung back in with back-to-back scores from Caroline Shipman and Amy Morgan, but the Gators kept their relentless attack coming. Allegheny (11-1, 3-1 NCAC) rattled off four more goals in succession to put the match out of reach.

The Gators fired off a total of 28 shots, 23 landing on goal, as opposed to Kenyon's 18 attempts. Meredith Bentsen made 11 saves in a losing effort.

Bair's four-point day led Kenyon offensively as the senior finished with three goals and a helper, twice scoring on free position shots. Morgan closed out the day with two goals and an assist.

Kenyon will play its last regular season road game at the College of Wooster on April 19 before finishing out the schedule with home matches against rival Denison (April 23) and DePauw University (April 26) at Mavec Field.
