Ladies earn first victories of 2014 at Earlham Quaker Classic

at the Earlham Quaker Classic. It was also Kenyon's first two wins of 2014.
RICHMOND, In. – Amanda Krampf earned her first two career collegiate victories Saturday as the Kenyon College volleyball team picked up its first two wins of the season defeating the University of Michigan-Dearborn and Earlham College. The two matches were a part of the Earlham Quaker Classic.
 
The Ladies defeated the Wolverines by scores of 25-16, 28-26, and 26-16. Kenyon later defeated the Quakers in four sets (17-25, 25-23, 25-10, 25-20).
 
In the first game against Michigan-Dearborn, freshman Lauren Kerr was superb totaling eight kills along with a .500 attack percentage. Tierney McClure added eight kills as well while Amber Kraus chipped in with six. Kaitlyn Power contributed seven aces.
 
Defensively, Rachael Thorson paced the Ladies' defense with 14 digs.
 
Kenyon wrapped up its first day at the Quaker Classic with a four-set win over the host school.
 
Kerr was solid again totaling nine kills with just one error on 16 swings. Thorson recorded 17 digs to lead the way while McClure collected seven digs. Jensen Shurbert and Hannah Shank combined to total 17 assists for Kenyon.
 
The Ladies will wrap up the Classic tomorrow starting at 10 a.m. against Trinity International University (Ill.) followed by a match against Franklin College at 2 p.m.
