Ladies open NCAC Tournament versus Tigers

NCAC Tournament Homepage

GAMBIER, Ohio – A strong close to the regular season vaulted the Kenyon Ladies softball team into its first North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament since 2013. On Friday, the fourth-seeded Ladies will begin postseason play against DePauw University, a program that has won the NCAC Tournament four of the last five years.

DePauw, the top seed, is the host for this year's four-team tournament, located in Greencastle, Indiana. After second-seeded College of Wooster faces third-seeded Denison University at 10 a.m., the Ladies will play the Tigers, scheduled for 12:30 p.m.

The winners of the two games will move on to play each other later in the afternoon while the losers will meet in an elimination game around 5:30.

Kenyon clinched the fourth seed after going 22-18 while attaining a 9-7 NCAC mark.  For DePauw, it navigated the regular season going 16-0 in the NCAC, the first conference school to achieve that. Additionally, the Tigers were 27-11 overall.  Two of those wins for DePauw came against the Ladies on April 28 in Gambier.

The upset-minded Ladies are looking for their best performances in this year's tournament. The program has attained just one win in nine tries in four previous tourney appearances. That came in the 2006 season when the Ladies defeated Wittenberg, 1-0, in an elimination game.
