Lords to battle Big Red in conference championship

GAMBIER, Ohio -- After a record-breaking 8-0 win over Wabash College in the conference semifinals on Wednesday, the Kenyon College men's soccer team faces Denison University in the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Tournament championship. Action between the Lords and Big Red kicks off Saturday at 1 p.m. on Mavec Field.

Kenyon won the regular season match against Denison 2-0 in Granville. The last time the Lords and Big Red matched up in the postseason came in the 2017 tournament where Kenyon won 1-0.

Kenyon (15-1-1, 9-0-0 NCAC) makes its eighth-consecutive NCAC Tournament championship appearance. The Lords earned the No. 1 seed in the tournament after winning their sixth-consecutive regular season title. Kenyon enters the match after defeating Wabash 8-0 in the semifinals.

Denison (11-4-2, 6-2-1 NCAC) comes in making its first conference title match appearance since 2010. The Big Red, the No. 3 seed in the tournament, traveled to Delaware to take on the No. 2 seed Ohio Wesleyan on Wednesday. Denison upset the Battling Bishops 1-0 after a late goal in the 82nd minute.

The winner of Saturday's championship earns an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament starting on November 12. The NCAA announces the remainder of the Division III field on Monday with their online selection show starting at 1:30 p.m.

As mandated by the league office, tickets for Saturday's match are $7 for adults and $3 for children (18 and under). NCAC students with a valid institution ID will be admitted free of charge.
