Lords land Top 10 spot in national preseason poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- With the release of the United Soccer Coaches national preseason poll, the Kenyon College Lords remained ranked among the Top 10 teams in NCAA Division III.

The Lords, who last played an NCAA contest in November of 2019, were slotted at No. 10 in the poll, released Wednesday. That No. 10 spot was the same rank the team earned at the end of the 2019 season, which included a 19-2-2 record and a run into the third-round of the NCAA Division III Tournament.

Kenyon was ranked two spots below No. 8 Montclair State University, the team that ended the Lords' 2019 season, and one spot below No. 9 Messiah College, a team that went 18-3-2 in 2019 and 4-0-0 in 2020.

Conversely, the Lords are ranked ahead of two in-state powerhouses in No. 13 Ohio Wesleyan University and No. 20 John Carroll University.

Kenyon's upcoming 2021 schedule opens with a home game against John Carroll. Later, in mid-October, the Lords will host Ohio Wesleyan in a conference contest.
