GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The Kenyon College Owls traveled to North Carolina to compete in the Gate City Invitational, a two-day event hosted by Greensboro College. The Owls compiled a three-round total of 889 and finished 12th in the 18-team field.

Jonathan Oakes paced the Owls with a total of 216, tying for 17th out of 90 individual golfers. The first-year started strong by carding a 70 in round one, the sixth-best individual mark in the opening round, before following up with a 72 in round two and a 74 in round three. Oakes (4.33, -6) tied for the best par-five mark in the field, and his 11 birdies tied for sixth-most.

Thesing shot an 80 in round one, and a 78 in round two, but a 72 in round three paced the Owls on Tuesday. The senior's six-stroke round-to-round improvement was the best mark on the team, and he tied for 68th individually with a 230 total.
Will Hulsey (76-82-77) also competed for the Owls, tallying a 235 and finishing tied for 79th overall.
Kenyon's next outing, the West Pines Collegiate, is scheduled to run from October 2-3 at the West Pines Golf Club. The Owls will head to Douglassville, Georgia, for the two-day, three-round contest hosted by Oglethorpe.
