Owls place 26th at Regional Championship

SHELBYVILLE, Ind. -- The Kenyon College Owls capped off their 2024 season Saturday after running in the NCAA DIII Great Lakes Regional Cross Country Championship, hosted by Franklin College. The Owls scored 719 points at the event and took 26th place among the 39 competing teams.

DePauw University won the team title with 91 points. Calvin University was second with 94 points and Trine University took bronze with a score of 109.

Individually, sophomore Olivia Ide was Kenyon's top runner. She whipped up a time of 23:46.49 and took 69th place in the field of 270 runners. Senior Ellianne Retzlaff was next for the Owls. She got through the 6k course at Blue River Park in a time of 25:07.36, which put her in 145th place. 


Next up for the Kenyon team was sophomore Penny Griffioen, who finished 161st place by clocking in at 25:26.00. First-year Lucie Prior and sophomore Hannah Gross then rounded out the Kenyon scorers. Prior crossed the line in 25:32.24 for 167th place and Gross finished in a personal-best time of 25:48.92 for 178th place.


The overall race winner was Faith Duncan from Wilmington College. She clocked in at 20:58.99.
