Kerr’s career day lends conference award

CLEVELAND – After leading the Kenyon College football team to its first win of the season this past weekend, junior linebacker Michael Kerr earned the North Coast Athletic Conference's Athlete of the Week designation, the first of his career and the team's first of 2025.

Kerr headlined an Owls defense that allowed zero points to the Oberlin College offense in a 57-2 rout of the Yeomen. He led the team with six tackles on the day and amassed 2.5 tackles for loss, setting a new career high. The Cleveland, Ohio native also set a career mark in sacks, racking up two on the day for a total of 10 negative yards.

Kerr also was involved in three turnovers for the game, yet another career high. He first recovered a fumble in the second quarter, and then forced a quarterback fumble early in the third. Kerr ended his day with his first career interception to put a bow on his monstrous performance.

As a team, the Kenyon defense achieved season-best marks in yards allowed (69), forced turnovers (5) and tackles for loss (13.0).

Kerr and the rest of the Owls defense look to continue its success in the team's next matchup, a conference meeting with the Wabash College Little Giants at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at McBride Field.
