LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Against a massive field of nearly 50 teams from across all NCAA divisions, the Kenyon College women's cross country team placed 30th overall at the Louisville Cross Country Classic on Saturday morning. Racing at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park, the Owls compiled a team score of 748 points.
Senior
Anna Brown once again headlined the Kenyon lineup, flying through the 6k course in 22:11.7 to secure 17th place overall out of more than 400 runners. Junior
Penny Griffioen was the next Owl to finish, clocking 23:32.5, which earned her 87th place.
The Kenyon scoring pack continued with sophomore
Cassidy Kaler, who crossed in 24:53.1 for 204th place, and classmate
Lucie Prior, who was right behind at 25:06.0 for 226th. Junior
Hannah Gross rounded out the team's top five with a 25:36.3 finish, good for 282nd.
Additional support came from junior
Eva Shannon, who ran 26:36.1, and first-year
Turner Clark, who stopped the clock at 27:12.2.
In the team competition, Kennesaw State University won the race with 54 points. Trine University followed in second (97), while Middle Tennessee State University placed third (121). Trinity University (TX) took fourth with 248 points, and John Carroll University rounded out the top five with 282 points.
Kenyon now turns its attention to the Inter-Regional Rumble, hosted by Oberlin College, on Saturday, October 18. Start time is set for 10:00 a.m.
