NCAC picks Van Eldik for first weekly award

CLEVELAND -- Cracking open the 2025-26 season on Saturday in the University of Indianapolis Quad, sophomore Kelsey Van Eldik led the Kenyon College women's swimming and diving team to a 1-2 record against NCAA Division II competition. For her efforts, Van Eldik was named the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Athlete of the Week.

A breaststroke specialist, Van Eldik landed Kenyon's top placement in swimming competition. In the 200-yard breaststroke she clocked in at 2:22.41 to claim third place among a pool of 13 other swimmers. Earlier in the meet, Van Eldik swam the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:04.12 to earn fifth place among 19 other swimmers.

Van Eldik, who was an NCAA Championship qualifier last season as a first-year, gained All-America awards with top-eight finishes in both breaststroke events.

Van Eldik and the rest of the Kenyon team will be back in action on Saturday, October 18, when they host John Carroll University.
