Five Owls earn all-conference honors

CLEVELAND -- The North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) announced Thursday the names of those student-athletes who made the 2025 all-conference men's soccer team. Kenyon College had five players, including NCAC Newcomer of the Year Jack Commandeur, make the team.

Commandeur's newcomer recognition came along with a spot on the All-NCAC First Team. Kenyon's All-NCAC Second-Team honorees were Lucas de Alarcon, Joey Nigro, Grant Blake, and Dominic Pratt.

Commandeur, a first-year defender, was a steady force. He played all 18 games and started in the final nine games of the season for Kenyon, which finished with a 7-4-7 overall record and a 3-2-3 conference mark. In the defensive zone, he helped the Owls hold opponents to an average of 1.00 goals per game. When he moved forward, he became one the the team's top offensive threats, scoring a team-high six goals to go along with a team-high 13 points.

Kenyon's Second-Team honorees saw de Alarcon take a spot among the forwards, Nigro a spot among the midfielders, Blake joining Commandeur among defenders, and Pratt earning a spot among goalkeepers. All five of Kenyon's selections were underclassmen and all five were first-time All-NCAC selections.

Leading the youth movement on offense was de Alarcon, a sophomore. He played in all 18 games and started a dozen of them. He tallied a pair of goals, giving him three goals in 29 career games played.

In the midfield, Nigro, a first-year, used his speed and agility to put the Owls in a good position up and down the field. He played in all 18 games, started 10 of them and recorded a pair of assists.

Blake and Pratt, both first-years, also made impactful contributions to the Kenyon defense, which allowed just 18 goals in 18 games played. Blake started 17 games and registered a goal and an assist, while Pratt started 15 games, logged 38 saves, a .717 save percentage and a 1.00 goals against average.

Additionally, NCAC accolades were handed out last week to Commandeur and senior Isaac Cortez, who were both named to the NCAC All-Tournament Team.
