Owls earn national, regional ranks from ITA

GAMBIER, Ohio -- National and regional rankings released by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) marked the end of the fall season for the Kenyon College men's team. Two Owls ended up with a national singles rank, while three earned a regional rank.

Within the ITA's national ranking of top-50 NCAA Division III singles players, junior Alejandro Gonzalez was slotted at No. 21, while first-year Maximo Llamas Castellanos was placed at No. 39. In terms of ITA Central Region ranks, Gonzalez landed at No. 5 and Llamas Castellanos was at No. 11.

The Owls played in just three events over the fall schedule. During that span, Gonzalez posted a 5-1 singles mark, which included a run to the semifinal round of the 128-player ITA Central Region Singles Championship. In that same event, Llamas Castellanos made it to the quarterfinal round and capped his fall with a 4-3 record.

Kenyon senior Paulo Pocasangre Kreling did not figure into the national singles ranking, but he did earn a Central Region rank at No. 16. After posting a 20-9 singles mark one season ago, his 2025 fall schedule included a 3-4 record.
