Greville posts program record in NCAC Heptathlon

OBERLIN, Ohio -- Scoring 4,460 points at Oberlin College over the last two days, Kenyon College junior Josh Greville concluded the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Heptathlon with a new program record and a second-place finish.

Greville broke his own record of 4,171 points, which he set last season. He finished better than 10 other competitors and only fell short of first-place finisher Daniel Jansen, of DePauw University, who scored 4,663 points.

Greville's runner-up spot was also good for eight team points, which will carry over for Kenyon into next weekend's NCAC Championship meet.

Sitting fifth after the first day of competition, which included four events, Greville finished strong Sunday, taking no worse than third place in the final three events. He claimed third place in the pole vault (12-5 ½, 3.80 meters), second in the 60-meter hurdles (8.83), and first in the 1,000-meter run (2:50.54).

On Saturday, Greville was third in the 60-meter dash (7.33), third in the long jump (20-3, 6.17m), fifth in the shot put (32-6 ½, 9.92m) and sixth in the high jump (5-3 ¾, 1.62m).
