Kenyon men place eighth at NCAC Championship

OBERLIN, Ohio -- The Kenyon College men's indoor track and field team finished its time at the 2025 North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Indoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday, placing eighth after two days of competition. The Owls tallied 36 points as a team and earned spots on the podium in three events while competing at Oberlin College's John W. Heisman Field House.

Charlie Blackmer provided the biggest boosts to Kenyon's score as the first-year contributed to 18 of the team's 25 day-two points. Blackmer's best finish came in the mile, where he finished as the conference's runner-up after stopping the clock at 4:22.68. The time was only about a second and a half slower than the winning time. Blackmer made it back to the podium in the 800-meter run, finishing third after placing fourth in yesterday's preliminary standings. The first-year crossed the finish line at 1:56.19, which was about two seconds back of first, and set a season-best mark for Kenyon runners this season.

The Owls added another bronze medal in field events, where Josh Greville continued his record-setting ways. The junior placed third in the triple jump, where his best leap measured 13.37 meters (43-10 ½). The mark rewrote Kenyon's indoor record in the event, breaking the 19-year-old mark of 13.24 meters (43 - 5 ¼) set by Brandon Balthrop back on February 18, 2006.

Greville's record-setting jump added six points to Kenyon's total, and the junior had a hand in scoring 18 of Kenyon's 36 championship points. In addition to his record-setting, second-place showing in the heptathlon, Greville also ran a leg on Kenyon's 4x400-meter relay team. The quartet included Emmanuel Makelele, Dylan Ryznar, and Blackmer, and the Owls scored four points after placing fifth with a time of 3:30.65, a season-best for Kenyon.

Kenyon's other point was scored by Peter Bernhardt in the 3,000m run. The senior placed eighth after clocking in at 8:45.46, another season-best mark for the team.
