PRATTVILLE, Ala. – The Kenyon College men's golf team teed it up in its penultimate event of the season before the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Championship early this week, competing in the Capitol City Classic at the Robert Trent Jones Country Club in Prattville, Alabama.

Fueled by two top-15 individual performances from Rafael Frias IV and Jonathan Oakes, the Owls carded a three-over par score for the 36-hole tournament, taking fifth overall out of 18 teams.

In round one, Frias fired what would be tied for the second best score of the tournament, a three-under par 69. He added five birdies on the day, making circles on all of the par-5s. He came back in round two with a steady 72, making two birdies and two bogeys on the day to put him eighth on the individual leaderboard. For the tournament, Frias finished tied for first in par five scoring (4.25)

Oakes was up next on the Kenyon roster, shooting even par on both days to put him tied for eleventh on the leaderboard. He started off the tournament with two birdies and two bogeys each on his first nine holes before nine straight pars on his second nine. In round two, his colorful scorecard included four bogeys, two birdies and one eagle on the 402-yard par four ninth hole to shoot 72.

Not far behind was Adrian Jordan and Will Hulsey, who each finished with three over par scores, good enough for a T-24 finish on the individual leaderboard. Jordan shot 76 on the opening 18 holes before shooting one-under (71) in round two. Hulsey led off the tournament with an up-and-down round one, consisting of six birdies and six bogeys for a 72. He came back in round two with a 75, adding one birdie to his seven for the tournament.

Armand Ouellette rounded out the Owls for the tournament, finishing T-80 on the individual leaderboard. He shot 87 in the first round before leveling out to a 75 in round two for a +18 tournament finish.

For the tournament, Kenyon finished second in par three scoring, averaging 3.13 for the 36 holes. The Owls also ranked second in total pars, carding 115.

Kenyon will return north for its first tournament in Ohio during the spring season, heading to Chardon, OH for the Dan Caschera Classic at Sand Ridge Golf Club hosted by John Carroll University.
