Nelson nets another All-America award

SPARKS, Md. -- For the third straight season, Kenyon College faceoff specialist Thomas Nelson was named a USA Lacrosse NCAA Division III All-American. The publication released the list Wednesday, following the honorees selection by a committee of staff and contributors.

Nelson, a graduating senior, was picked as an honorable mention. Overall, 11 faceoff specialists were selected for the honor, with eight of those being honorable mention picks.

During the 2025 season, Nelson won 236 of 351 faceoffs (.672) and scooped up 159 ground balls for the Owls. Those totals ranked first on the team and second among all players in the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC). His win percentage was the 15th best mark among all players in NCAA Division III this season and his average of 9.94 ground balls per game ranked 14th best in Division III.

Throughout his career, Nelson set multiple Kenyon records. For program single-game marks, he established the standard at 18 ground balls and also at a 1.000 faceoff win percentage, which he accomplished twice. His program single-season records include 187 ground balls, 271 faceoff won, and a .732 faceoff win percentage. Additionally, Nelson owns the Kenyon career records for ground balls (619) and faceoffs won (902). Both those hold up as NCAC records, as well.

In the history of NCAA Division III men's lacrosse, Nelson's career ground ball total ranks 13th all-time, his faceoff win total ranks tied for 13th, and his faceoff win percentage ranks  24th.

With his latest award from USA Lacrosse, Nelson is now a five-time All-American.
