Kenyon closes out NCAA Championship, 2025 season

PENFIELD, N.Y., – After 72 holes at the 2025 NCAA Division III Championships, the Kenyon College men's golf team closed out its 2024-2025 season on Friday afternoon, taking thirteenth place out of the 43-team field with a +50 score.

The Owls again had to battle the elements along with the course in the fourth round at Midvale Country Club, carding a twelve-over-par score for the final 18 holes to end the tournament.

The last round actually teed off yesterday, with the Kenyon quintet each playing roughly seven holes as the Championship Committee attempted to avoid the Friday morning weather. After one hole at 7:45 am this morning, the team was pulled off the course for nearly four hours for a rain delay. Still, Kenyon managed to salvage solid scores.

Jonathan Oakes led the squad for the round and the tournament, firing a 69 (-3) for the finale round. He carded four birdies and just one bogey with the rest pars. He shot the fifth best round of the day on Friday, finishing in a tie for eighteenth for the tournament at +6.

Finishing up his NCAA debut, Oliver McGovern turned in the Owls' second best round of the day, making a 74 (+2). He made one birdie, one bogey, and one double bogey and parred the rest. He finished at +11 for the tournament and was 32nd on the individual leaderboard.

Jaiden Koonar was fourth on Kenyon's lineup today, but third for the tournament. In round four, he started hot with a one-under par 35 on the front nine. He carded a 44 on the back to finish at 79 on the day. For the week, he made a +16 score, good enough for 55th on the individual leaderboard.

Third on the day and fifth for the tournament was senior Armand Ouellette, who caps off his Kenyon career with a 78 (+6). He made a 40 on the front before shaving two strokes to a 38 on the back. For the tournament, he sat 82nd at +25.

Rounding out the Owls' final round was Adrian Jordan, who shot 38 on the front and 42 on the back for an even 80. He ended the tournament at +23, putting him 78th overall.

Methodist University took the crown, topping the field by five strokes. Illinois Wesleyan University finished second, while Emory College took third.

Despite playing through weather throughout the tournament, Kenyon managed its second best finish in NCAA Championship program history with the T-13 finish, besting the 15th-place showing of the 2021-22 team.
