CLAREMONT, Calif. -- The NCAA dropped the draws for both the singles and doubles portions of the 2025 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championships on Friday, letting Eleni Lazaridou and Hana Nouaime know what the Kenyon College duo can expect on their NCAA run. Both Owls will play on Saturday, May 24, at the Biszantz Family Tennis Center in Claremont, California. Lazaridou leads off in the Singles Championship bracket with a first-round matchup at 9 a.m. Pacific time, while both Lazaridou and Nouaime will play in the first round of the Doubles Championship later in the day at 3 p.m. Pacific.
Lazaridou will be looking to rekindle the success she found in her first trip to the NCAA stage back as a first-year in 2023. The Veroia, Greece, native made an immediate and impressive impact in the singles bracket, winning three straight matches before falling to the national runner-up in the semifinal round. Lazaridou's selection this season was her third straight after qualifying for the NCAA Singles Championship last season but not participating. This year, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA) No. 13-ranked DIII women's player compiled a 15-2 singles record this season, all atop the Kenyon lineup.
Lazaridou and Nouaime are currently ranked No. 25 in the ITA DIII women's doubles rankings, though the duo was ranked as high as No. 10 earlier this spring. Over Nouaime's first year with the Owls, the duo has posted a 15-5 record as Kenyon's top doubles team. Nouaime has tied the team lead with 18 doubles wins as a first-year while playing a team-high 26 doubles matches across the fall and spring seasons, and is 18-8 overall with a 15-6 record in dual settings. Kenyon last appeared in the doubles bracket in 2023, when Lazaridou and teammate Allaire Berl advanced to the second round.
In the doubles bracket, the duo of Alisha Chulani and Rebecca Kong from tournament host Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges await the Owls in the first round. Chulani and Kong are the ITA's No. 16-ranked doubles duo, and they have compiled an 11-7 record as a pair this season for the No. 2-ranked Athenas. The winner of Saturday's first-round match will advance to play in Sunday's quarterfinals, which will not start before 2 p.m. Pacific, as the winner between Washington University in St. Louis's No. 4-ranked duo of Caitlin Bui and Elanor Archer and Wesleyan University's No. 6-ranked pair of Sarah Youngberg and Lane Durkin awaits.
On the singles side, Lazaridou will line up against Addison Felts in the first round. Felts, a sophomore, has held down the top singles spot for the University of Mary Washington this season. Her 13-10 overall record includes a 12-5 mark in dual play, all coming at the No. 1 spot. This is Felts' first NCAA Singles Championship selection.
The winner of Saturday's first-round singles matchup will play again shortly after, as round two is scheduled to be played not before 1 p.m. Pacific. Erika Eckstrand, the No. 6-seeded player in the 32-competitor field, will play St. Catherine University's Kelsey Dorr for the right to face the winner of the match between Lazaridou and Felts.
Eckstrand has played across the top of the lineup for the nation's No. 1-ranked team, the University of Chicago. The graduate student has tallied an 18-4 singles record this season that includes a 9-1 mark in dual meets, and she has three wins in each of the top three spots in the UChicago lineup. Ekstrand, the ITA's No. 9-ranked singles player, is making her second straight and third overall trip to the NCAA Singles Championship. Dorr, another graduate student, has compiled a 17-2 singles record, playing exclusively in the first flight for St. Catherine. She will appear on the national singles stage for the third time in her career, making it back to the bracket after appearances in 2021 and 2022.
