Kenyon to battle Rose-Hulman in NCAA first round

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) announced Monday that the Kenyon College Owls will face the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology Fighting Engineers in the first round of the 49-team 2026 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championship. The contest will be played later this week on the campus of Washington University in St. Louis.

Kenyon, making its fourth straight and 26th overall appearance in the national tournament, currently possesses an 18-5 overall record and a No. 14 national rank in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) poll. The Owls earned their spot on the national stage by winning the North Coast Athletic Conference's (NCAC) Tournament with a 5-0 victory over No. 21-ranked Denison University. That win came along with the conference's automatic bid.

Rose-Hulman punched its ticket to the NCAA Tournament after defeating Transylvania University in the championship match of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament. The unranked Fighting Engineers now own a 13-8 overall record.

The winner of the first-round match between Kenyon and Rose-Hulman will move on to face the winner of the first-round match between Wheaton College and Grinnell College. Wheaton is unranked, has a 16-5 record, and earned its spot in the NCAA bracket by winning the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin. Grinnell carries a No. 30 national rank, a 16-6 record, and got into national play after taking the trophy in the Midwest Conference Tournament.

Washington University will host the first three rounds of the tournament. Match days and times will be announced Tuesday.
