Five Owls load up the All-NCAC ledger

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Following another dominant year of conference competition, the Kenyon College Owls had five student-athletes figure prominently into the 2024-25 All-North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Women's Tennis Team. Shadia Amado Aguad, Ana Brand, Clare Hudson, Eleni Lazaridou, and Hana Nouaime were named as All-NCAC singles selections, while Amado Aguad, Hudson, Lazaridou, and Nouaime were also dubbed as All-NCAC doubles honorees.

For the third straight season, Lazaridou landed the conference's top honors as the junior was named NCAC Player of the Year and was part of the NCAC Doubles Team of the Year. Nouaime teamed up with Lazaridou in the top doubles spot, earning the top doubles award as a first-year.

In singles selections, Lazaridou and Amado Aguad were All-NCAC First Team honorees. Brand and Hudson both hauled in second-team awards, while Nouaime was named to the third team. Lazaridou and Nouaime were one of three first-team doubles duos, while Amado Aguad and Hudson slotted in as a second-team pairing.

Lazaridou has led the way for the Owls, playing at No. 1 all season and posting a 14-2 singles record so far. The junior's third NCAC Player of the Year award marks the seventh straight season and 21st overall time a Kenyon women's tennis player has earned the honor. In the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings, Lazaridou, who was also named NCAC Newcomer of the Year as a first-year, is the No. 12-ranked NCAA Division III singles player.

Like Lazaridou, Amado Aguad has also earned All-NCAC awards in each of her first three seasons. In singles, the junior jumped to the All-NCAC First Team this season after two straight second-team selections. She has played at Nos. 1, 2, and 3 this season, going 11-6 in dual matches while doing most of her damage in the No. 2 spot, where she is 7-2.

Brand broke through on the singles side as a sophomore, securing her All-NCAC Second Team honors after making the third-team all-conference squad in doubles as a first-year. Brand has bolstered the team in dual play, going 10-3 across the lineup's top three spots. Like Amado Aguad, she is also 7-2 in the second flight.

Hudson has had an immediate impact in her first season in Gambier, leading the team with 16 singles wins over the spring. The first-year has compiled a 16-3 record while playing all over the lineup, picking up at least one win in each of the top four spots and going 6-0 at No. 3 and 8-3 at No. 4.

Nouaime, another first-year, also helped the Owls from the jump. She whipped up an 11-6 dual record route to All-NCAC singles honors, appearing at Nos. 3, 4, and 5. Nouaime's best results have come at No. 4, where she is 6-1.

In doubles, Nouaime and Lazaridou combined for a team-best 15-3 record. The duo, ranked No. 21 in the most recent ITA standings, did all of their damage at the top of the lineup. The pair marks the fifth straight season Kenyon has produced an NCAC Doubles Team of the Year. Amado Aguad and Hudson had a strong first season together, going 13-4 overall. The duo was 12-4 in the No. 2 spot, and they won their lone match playing in the first flight.

The Owls swept their regular-season NCAC slate, going 6-0 and posting 14-1 overall records in both singles and doubles to clinch a third straight NCAC Championship. Kenyon also won a third consecutive NCAC Tournament Championship, earning the league's automatic bid to the 2025 NCAA Division III Team Championship. The Owls will open their NCAA Tournament run in the second round on Saturday, May 10, after securing a first-round bye.
