Four earn GCAA All-America Scholar status

NORMAN, Okla. – The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) announced Tuesday the NCAA Division III student-athletes who were named 2024-25 Cobalt Golf All-America Scholars. Among the honorees were four golfers from Kenyon College.

The recognized Owls included recent graduate Armand Ouellette, as well as three rising juniors in Jaiden Koonar, Oliver McGovern, and Jonathan Oakes.

To be eligible for GCAA Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar nomination within NCAA Division III, a student-athlete needed to maintain a stroke average under 79.0, possess a cumulative career grade point average of 3.2 or better, and had to participate in at least 50 percent of his team's competitive rounds. Additionally, nominees had to be in their sophomore, junior, or senior season.

Overall, there were 202 NCAA Division III athletes from 78 institutions that earned 2024-25 Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar honors. Kenyon's total of four honorees tied a program high and was bested by just four other institutions for the 2024-25 academic year.

Ouellette, who graduated in May with a degree in economics, played 24 rounds this past season and generated a 76.96 scoring average. He maxed out at three career GCAA Golf All-America Scholar awards, becoming just the second in program history to do so.

All three of Kenyon's sophomore honorees are also majoring in economics.

McGovern came on strong late in the season and contributed a scoring average of 74.32 in 19 rounds played. Oakes, for two seasons now, has been the team's top golfer. This past season, the two-time GCAA All-American carded 30 rounds, finishing with a 72.33 scoring average. Koonar put up a 2024-25 scoring average of 74.04 spanning 28 rounds played, including the three-round North Coast Athletic Conference Championship, which he won with a score of six-under-par.
