Owls get season underway at Denison Invite

Box Score GRANVILLE, Ohio -- Playing against top-10 nationally ranked opponents, the Kenyon College men's tennis team logged nine singles wins and nine doubles wins throughout the two-day Denison University Invitational.

It was the first scheduled event of the 2025-26 year for the Owls, who faced competition from defending national champion Denison, last year's national runner-up Case Western Reserve University, No. 29-ranked Carnegie Mellon University, and conference foe DePauw University.

In singles play, junior Jay Kedar Dixit and first-year Stylianos Papamichael had the best showings for Kenyon. Both played three matches and both recorded a 2-1 record. Kedar Dixit logged wins over Evan Uhl from DePauw and Chaitanya Irkar from Carnegie Mellon, while Papamichael knocked off Wesley Huang from Denison and Josh Davydov from Case Western Reserve.


Five other Kenyon competitors logged one singles win over the weekend. That group included Juozas Cioladis, Alejandro Gonzalez, Sree Kondaveeti, Maximo Llamas Castellanos, and Rohan Sriram.


In doubles play, the Owls had one pairing with two wins. That was the team's No. 1 duo of Paulo Pocasangre Kreling and Gonzalez, who posted wins over doubles teams from Denison and Carnegie Mellon. Llamas Castellanos took it one step farther, logging three doubles wins with two different partners. He and Cioladis collected wins over tandems from DePauw and Case Western Reserve. Llamas Castellanos then notched another doubles win playing alongside Josh Finkle.


Overall, Kenyon finished in the middle of the five-team pack with a combined record of 18-19, which included and a 8-5 mark in singles action and a 9-6 mark in doubles.


In two weeks, the Owls will return to competition when they travel to Kalamazoo College for the annual Intercollegiate Tennis Association Central Region Championship.
