Owls earn seventh-place DIII finish at All-Ohio

CEDARVILLE, Ohio – Facing a large field of opponents ranging across all NCAA divisions, the Kenyon College women's cross country team earned a seventh-place finish among Division III squads and 16th overall at Friday evening's All-Ohio Intercollegiate Classic, hosted by Cedarville University. The Owls tallied 157 points in the DIII standings and 359 in the overall team race.
 
Senior Anna Brown once again set the tone for Kenyon, blazing through the 6K course in 22:11.3. Her time placed her 10th overall in the championship field and first among D-III runners, marking her second straight race with a first-place finish.
 
Junior Penny Griffioen was the second Owl across the line, clocking 24:16.5 for 82nd overall and 33rd in the D-III results. Following her was Sophomore Lucie Prior, who finished in 25:01.8, securing 121st overall and 49th in the D-III standings.
 
Kenyon's scoring pack was rounded out by Cassidy Kaler, Hannah Gross, Turner Clark and Isabel Prosnitz. Kaler turned in a 25:14.4 for 135th overall (56th D-III), while Gross stopped the clock at 25:19.9 to place 140th (57th D-III). Clark added depth with a 26:17.0 finish (172nd overall, 76th D-III), and Prosnitz notched a time of 26:24.3, placing her 176th (78th D-III).
 
Eva Shannon and Sasha Langholm completed the lineup for the Owls, Shannon finished with a time of 26:27.7 and Langholm crossed the finish line in 27:10.5.
 
In the team competition, John Carroll University captured the D-III crown with 41 points, just edging Ohio Wesleyan University (44). Wittenberg University (113) and Otterbein University (127) fill in at third and fourth. Ohio Northern University (129) and Franciscan University (129) find themselves in a tie at fifth.
 
The Owls return to action on Friday, October 3rd, heading an hour down the road to Delaware, Ohio, for the Ohio Wesleyan Invitational.
