Box Score ST.LOUIS, Mo. – The Kenyon College women's tennis team made a statement this weekend at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division III Central Regional Championship, hosted by Washington University in St. Louis. The Owls battled through a deep field that featured many strong opponents, as well as NCAC rivals Denison University, DePauw University, and The College of Wooster.
In singles, first-year
Kiara Komlodi, seeded No.17, headlined Kenyon's effort by powering her way into the semifinal round. After a first-round bye, she swept Illinois Wesleyan's Amber Ehrlich (6-0, 6-1) and handled Addison Lyons of Kalamazoo College by a score of (6-3, 6-3). She then upset No. 8-seeded Tina Kinitroglou of the University of Chicago (6-3, 6-4) before outlasting WashU's Ally Lin (6-2, 7-6) in the quarterfinals. Komlodi's run came to an end in the semifinal against Washington University's Eliana Hanna, who prevailed 7-5, 6-3.
Senior
Eleni Lazaridou, the No.2 seed, also put together an impressive showing. She cruised past Adrian College's Claire Earley (6-0, 6-0) and No.17-seeded Kensington Payne of North Central College (6-1, 6-2), before defeating WashingtonU's Amber Edmonds (6-0, 6-1) to reach the quarterfinals. The tournament came to a close there, where she fell in straight sets to WU's Eliana Hanna (7-6, 6-2).

Hana Nouaime,
Maya Stolarsky, and
Maggie Shope all contributed wins in the opening rounds, with Hudson advancing to the round of 32 before falling to top-seeded Clara Zou of UChicago (6-3, 6-1). Shope followed in Hudson's footsteps, making it to the round of 32 after beating out the No. 17-seeded Caitlin Van Winkile. Unfortunately, the Sophomore bowed out in the following round. Stolarsky wrapped up singles play for the Owls, picking up a decisive win in her ITA debut.
In doubles, Kenyon's duos made their presence felt. Nouaime and Lazaridou carried the deepest run, advancing to the quarterfinals after an 8-2 win over Denison's Maddie Larsen/Caitlin Van Winkle and an 8-6 victory against Augustana College's Hanna Colbert and Colleen Larry, before falling to Chicago's Lily Zawaneh and Lauren Khou 8-5. The pairing of Hudson and Komlodi posted wins over Trine University's Elina Locane and Alexis Maloney by a tally of 8-2 and Sarena Biria and Clara Zou of University of Chicago by a score of 8-6 before bowing out in the round of 16. Stolarsky and Shope advanced to the round of 16 with an 8-6 win over the College of Wooster and a massive upset against No.9-seeded Amanda Lopykinski and Hadley Krygier in the round of 32 by a score of 8-5 before falling to Oliwia Mikos and Charlotte Klein of UChicago.
Overall, the Owls combined for 13 singles victories and six doubles victories across the weekend, surpassing last year's total, showcasing a strong team going into the rest of the season. This tournament wraps up Kenyon's fall slate. The Owls will return to action next calendar year when they open their spring season.
