Owls combine for three wins, take second in Wooster

WOOSTER, Ohio – Competing in its first action of 2026, the Kenyon College women's track and field team competed amongst a four team field on Saturday afternoon as part of the Wooster Invitational hosted by The College of Wooster. 

The Owls took home three victories on the day, amassing 65 points to take second out of four teams. 

Kenyon's trio of first place finishes all took place in individual events on the track, highlighted by a podium sweep in the 400. Caeleigh Stamper led the way with a 1:08.63 finish, with Claire Pruner not far behind at 1:09.61. Sasha Langholm took third and completed the sweep with a 1:13.10 mark. 

In the mile, the Owls almost had another podium sweep, taking first, second and fourth. Lucie Prior gave the team its second victory of the day, rounding the mile in 5:44.14. Olivia Ide was less than a second behind her at 5:45.12, while Cassidy Kaler turned in a solid 5:54.38 fourth place finish. 

Noa Helmbrecht added the team's third victory of the day in the 60 meter, sprinting to a 8.09 first place finish. Ari Sobel turned in a fifth place showing in the same event, clocking in at 8.33 before taking second in the 200 meter at 27.26, with Helmbrecht taking third at 27.44. 

Kenyon also turned in two second place finishes in the relays, with the team of Helmbrecht, Sobel, Georgia Yatrakis and Addi Tober combining for a 1:48.03 mark in the 4x200 relay. Tober teamed up with Langholm, Stamper and Pruner for second place in the 4x400 relay, finishing at 4:37.82. 

In the field events, Penelope Artemis logged the team's best finishes in the throws. She tossed a 13.16 meter (43-2 ¼) heave in the weight throw to earn second, and backed it up with a third place showing in shotput, flinging the stone 10.39 meters (34-1 ¼). Kenna Kinsch finished fifth in the same event, ending with a nine meter (29-10) toss to take fifth. 

For the invitational, Wittenberg University took home the top spot with 121 points. Kenyon's 65 points were good enough for second, while Wooster (54) and Ashland University (3) rounded out the standings. 

Kenyon won't have to wait long to return to Wooster, as the team will be back on Saturday, January 24 for another meet starting at 11 a.m.
