Owls collect CSC Academic All-District honors

GAMBIER, Ohio -- The Kenyon College Owls had five student-athletes listed on the College Sports Communicators (CSC) 2025-26 Academic All-District Women's Track and Field Team. CSC announced Tuesday that the Kenyon honorees included senior Anna Brown, junior Olivia Ide, and sophomores Penelope Artemis, Noa Helmbrecht, and Ari Sobel.

For Brown, the honor was her third straight, making her just the second in program history to reach that career total. Ide is now a two-time winner of the CSC Academic All-District award, while Artemis, Helmbrecht, and Sobel are all first-time recipients of the recognition.

To be eligible for the Academic All-District Team, a student-athlete had to be a key contributor who produced a Top-50 performance in the region in a single, individual event (relays not considered). The student-athlete also had to be on the team's active roster for at least two years and had to possess a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade point average.

Brown, a recent graduate with a degree in English, excelled in the 800-meter race, an event she ran at the 2026 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championship and secured All-America honors with a 14th-place finish. She's a 13-time All-North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) honoree with three career conference event titles. She owns Kenyon records for the 800 and mile runs. Brown was also a three-time All-Region runner and was the runner-up at the 2026 NCAC Cross Country Championship.

Like Brown, Ide also ran both track and cross country. She qualified for the CSC Academic All-District team by nailing down a top-50 finish at the Great Lakes Region Cross Country Championship, as well as scoring a rank of 36th in the region for her efforts in the 10,000-meter run during the outdoor track season. In the classroom, Ide studies molecular biology.

In field events, Artemis, a psychology major, was the Owls' lone representative. She excelled in throws and registered qualifying marks in both the indoor and outdoor seasons. For indoor, she ranked 19th in the region in the shot put. For outdoor, she posted regional ranks of No. 26 for the shot put and No. 23 for the hammer throw.

Back on the track, Helmbrecht, a biology major, and Sobel, a neuroscience major, headed up the Owls sprint squad. They dialed up regional qualifying marks in both the indoor and outdoor seasons. During the indoor season, Helmbrecht was 15th regionally in the 60-meter and 19th regionally in the 200-meter. Sobel was 43rd regionally in the 200-meter and 7th in the 400-meter. During the outdoor season, Helmbrecht was 29th regionally in the 100-meter and 31st in the 200-meter, while Sobel was 24th in the 400-meter and 50th in the 800-meter. Sobel concluded the season as the Kenyon record holder in the 400-meter, both indoor and outdoor.
