Belova tops field, Owls place third

CINCINNATI, Ohio -- For the third time in the early stages of her collegiate career Kenyon College sophomore Sasha Belova claimed medalist honors. She did so Tuesday, besting a field of 81 other golfers in the two-day, two-round Clovernook Intercollegiate, hosted by Wittenberg University.

Belova played Monday's first round at the par-72 Clovernook Country Club with a four-over score of 76. She returned Tuesday to fire a one-under 71 that included three birdies. Her final two-round total of 147 topped the field by four strokes, as three other golfers tied for the runner-up spot with identical scores of 151.

Belova's efforts helped steer the Owls to an overall third-place finish within the 14-team standings. The Kenyon women scored a 324 in the first round and then improved to a 312 in the second round. That left the Owls with a final total of 636 strokes, just three strokes shy of the lead, which Aurora University and Centre College shared at 633.

Backing up the play of Belova was fellow sophomore Camryn Nelson, who tied for eighth place with a two-day total of 154. She posted a 78 in round one and then a 76 in round two.

First-year Demi Hampilos added another Kenyon strong showing, finishing in a tie for 30th place with a final tally of 167. She carded an 84 Monday and then an 83 on Tuesday. Sophomore teammate Jane Fanning rounded out the Kenyon scoring, finishing just one stroke behind Hampilos. Fanning's final of 168 was built on scores of 86 and 82.

Prior to taking the top individual spot at Clovernook, Belova had two medalist finishes as a first-year player in the 2025-26 season. She did so at Allegheny College's Guy and Jeanne Kuhn Memorial Invitational and then later added a win at The College of Wooster's Eva Shorb Weiskopf Invitational.

Tuesday's result marked the end of the Owls' fall-season schedule.
