Brown breaks record, earns conference honor

CLEVELAND – Kenyon College senior Anna Brown turned in a record breaking performance this past weekend at the Jud Logan Light Giver Invitational, leading to her first North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Track and Field Athlete of the Week honor of the season.

Brown ran the mile in a massive field of 58 in the event hosted by Ashland University, a trip she made solo in hopes to improve her chances of qualify for the NCAA Division III national meet. She turned in a time of 4:59.85, which placed her third in the race and 38th in the NCAA DIII rankings. The run was also good enough to break Kenyon's indoor program record of 5:04.73, which was set by Natalie Plick in 2013.

The award marks Kenyon's third NCAC Athlete of the Week honoree of the season, and the sixth of Brown's decorated career. She will rejoin the rest of Owls on Saturday, February 14 at the All-Ohio Championships.
