Brown wins All-Ohio championship in 800

WESTERVILLE, Ohio -- After placing second in the 800-meter race one season ago, Kenyon College senior Anna Brown was crowned champion in the event on Saturday, during the 2026 Women's All-Ohio Indoor Track & Field Championship, held at Otterbein University.

Brown's effort in the 800 contributed 10 points to Kenyon's final total of 31, which placed the Owls ninth among the 15 other NCAA Division III teams in the field. Brown, who clocked in at 2:19.33 a season ago, claimed the 2026 title with a time of 2:18.73, winning the race by a little more than a second.

A trio of sophomores also made significant contributions to Kenyon's All-Ohio final point total. Leading the group was Noa Helmbrecht, who placed fourth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.98, just missing her season-best of 7.92. Prior to that result, Helmbrecht led off  Kenyon's 4x200-meter relay team which claimed second place with a time of 1:47.88, just missing the program record of 1:47.21. Joining Helmbrecht on that relay squad was Sobel, Tober, and first-year Georgia Yatrakis.

Later in the meet, Helmbrecht and Yatrakis finished 11th and 12th in the 200-meter dash. Their respective times were 27.15 and 27.20.

In between the 4x200-meter relay race and Helmbrecht's 60-meter dash, Sobel and Tober ran side-by-side in the 400-meter race. At the finish line, Sobel edged Tober. She took seventh place with a time of 1:01.39, while Tober took eighth place in a personal-record time of 1:01.41.

Back at the start of the meet, Kenyon recorded its first point of the day with an eighth-place finish in the distance medley relay. Sending out Turner Clark, Lucie Prior, Caeleigh Stamper, and Cassidy Kaler, the Owls returned with a time of 14:08.98.

Toward the end of the meet, Prior turned in a 12th-place time of 11:10.17 in the 3,000-meter, which preceded the Owls's fifth-place showing in the 4x400-meter. That quartet consisted of Tober, Helmbrecht, Sobel, and Brown. They clocked in at 4:09.83.

The Owls were unable to score any points in field events. The closest they came was sophomore Penelope Artemis' efforts in the shot put, where she placed 11th with a heave that traveled 26-2 ¼ (11.03 meters).

Up next for the Kenyon team is its lone home meet of the indoor season, the Kenyon Tune-Up. That meet will get underway at 4:00 p.m. on Barrett A. Toan Track inside the Lowry Center.
