Greville’s record leads Kenyon at NCAC heptathlon

WOOSTER, Ohio – Two athletes from the Kenyon College men's track and field team kicked off the 2026 North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Indoor Championships with the two day heptathlon hosted by The College of Wooster. 

Josh Greville led the Owls for the two-day, six event competition in record breaking fashion, tallying 4,547 points to break his own record from last year to take third place. J'Sun Gardner also posted a strong finish, amassing 3040 points to earn 12th place. 

Greville got things started off on Saturday with a fifth place finish in the 60 meter dash, where he sprinted to a 7.31 mark. He took third in the long jump, reaching 6.06 meters (19-10 ¾) on his third and final leap. His 10.25 meter (33-7 ½) toss in the shot put was good enough for seventh place, before wrapping day one's events by clearing the 1.77 meter (5-9 ¾) bar in the high jump. 

Gardner's day started with a 7.83 second time in the 60 meter ,good enough for 16th place. He backed it up with a 15th place finish in the long jump, coming in at 5.23 meters (17-2). The senior's 10.14 meter (33-2 ¼) shot put toss landed him in eight place, while the 1.62 meter (5-3 ¾) bar was cleared for eighth place in the high jump. 

On Sunday, Greville got his day started with a third place finish in the 60 meter hurdles, crossing the finish line in nine seconds. He added a seventh place mark in the pole vault, clearing the 3.55 meter (11-7 ¾) mark. The highlight of his competition came in the final event of the circuit, the 1000 meter, where he came away victorious with a 2:44.22 time, besting the field by eight seconds. 

Gardner started day two with an 11.25 second time in the 60 meter hurdles, good enough for 12th place. In the pole vault, he cleared a 2.45 meter (8-0 ½) line for 15th place, and closed the events with an 11th place finish in the 1000 meter, crossing the line in 3:21.62. 

The final two days of the 2026 NCAC Indoor Championships will begin on Saturday, February 27th from Springfield, Ohio.
